Experience the Best of Malaysian Street Food at the LA Malaysia Kitchen Night Market
Malaysia Kitchen for the World Comes to Los Angeles with a Special Evening of Malaysian Food on Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade , Friday, December 10
November 29, 2010, New York - Malaysia Kitchen for the World, a campaign launched by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) to promote Malaysian cuisine and restaurants in the United States, is hosting the ultimate street food celebration in Los Angeles: a lively Malaysia Kitchen Night Market featuring free samplings of classic Malaysian hawker foods by local restaurants. The event occurs Friday, December 10 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica.
With colorful tents, umbrellas and lanterns inspired by the open-air markets of Kuala Lumpur and Penang, the Malaysia Kitchen Night Market is the perfect opportunity to try the spicy flavors of Malaysian cuisine from top LA restaurants, from traditional Malaysian restaurants like Yazmin, Manja, Belacan Grill and Mutiara to Santa Monica's popular Monsoon Café. Southeast Asian and Malaysian food expert and cookbook author Chef Robert Danhi will also prepare a special Malaysian dish for the occasion.
The Malaysia Kitchen Night Market will offer an array of traditional Malaysian street grub. From chicken satay with spicy peanut sauce to beef rendang (a sumptuously spiced dry beef curry) and nasi lemak (a tasty coconut rice dish served with spicy curry chicken or beef rendang), offerings draw upon Malaysian cuisine's Malay, Chinese and Indian influences. Besides delicious street food, the event will feature unique cultural performances that will add to the exciting marketplace environment. All food will be sampled free of charge.
