James Beard Dinner for Malaysia Kitchen for the World

As the closing dinner for the LUCKYRICE Festival, Malaysia Kitchen for the World and celebrated Malaysian-inspired Chefs Zak Pelaccio from Fatty Crab and Fatty 'Cue, and Simpson Wong from Cafe Asean, hosted a special dinner celebrating the rich flavors of Malaysian cuisine at the legendary James Beard House, Monday, May 10, 7-10 pm. The evening offered an elaborate 5-course tasting menu paired with fine wines, featuring:

  • 1st course: Salad of Mango with Roasted Hudson Valley Duck
  • 2nd course: Curry Laksa, a traditional Northeastern Malay noodle and fish soup in a flavorful coconut broth
  • 3rd course: Halibut with Malaccan Pineapple Curry
  • 4th course: Short Rib Rendang, slow cooked beef short ribs in an aromatic curry sauce, complemented with coconut rice
  • 5th course: Trio of desserts, including Coconut Cream "Panna Cotta", Puding Raja with duck egg yolk threads and an aromatic sweet syrup and Sticky Rice with rhubarb and creme anglaise
