Named for one of the world’s longest, fastest gondola lifts, Genting Skyway in Malaysia, the Skyway Malaysian Restaurant on the Lower East Side maintains a level, graceful pace. Any lift guests get is from the warm aura of dining under colorful lanterns and intricately carved wall hangings. Reviewed in the Village Voice, the Skyway kitchen is adept at literally scores of noodle soup styles. Lip-smacking bowls of Assam Laksa or Prawn Mee, for examples, are tummy-filling as well. The mee is a potage of egg noodles, shredded pork, shrimp, sprouts and other vegetables in spicy shrimp broth.
