Zak Pelaccio’s original Fatty Crab continues to add American accents to dishes learned during the owner/chef’s year in Malaysia. Patrons of Pelaccio’s “joint” in the Village love mixing vibrantly seasoned dishes with creative cocktails. Bartender Devin estimates he’s mixed 150,000 in the eatery’s five-year history. Fatty Crab is tiny with a few sidewalk tables amplifying the space. Fun is always on offer, along with first-rate Claypot Chicken, Sambal Shrimp in a zesty presentation with peanuts, cilantro, sprouts and more; sticky, gooey, sweet and spicy Jalan Alor chicken wings; and Steamed Pork Buns living up to the fatty name. Lunch specials differ from the uptown location.
