Manager Morgan Humphries says the friendly, value-packed eatery specializes in traditional Malaysian preparation, constantly working for greater authenticity. Penang on West 72 Street has a handsome look of exposed brick walls and inviting bar. Its Kuala Lumpur-born chef delivers big bang for the buck with $10 lunch packages of spring rolls, soup, salad and entrées like Hainanese Chicken or spicy shrimp noodles. Many original Penang dishes remain, from their award-winning Roti Canai to marinated golden fried squid with peppers and onions.
